The Laurels of Mt. Pleasant is very pleased that many surgeons and attending physicians follow their patients at our facility.

If your physician does not have admitting privileges, our Medical Director or other attending physician will be happy to oversee your care while you are staying with us. If you have any questions regarding your physician coverage, please don't hesitate to contact us at (989) 773-5918. We can assist you to ensure that you will have physician coverage.

The current list of attending physicians at The Laurels of Mt. Pleasant includes, but is not limited to, the following:

John Wilkins, MD

Medical Director

Dr. Wilkins is a Medical Director with Theoria Medical overseeing the patient care at The Laurels of Mt. Pleasant. He attended undergrad at Michigan State University and continued on to complete medical school with Michigan State's College of Osteopathic Medicine. From here he went on to finish his residency with McLaren Bay Region Family Medicine. Specializing in family medicine, Dr. Wilkins has extensive experience working in nursing homes and hospice. He believes in helping others and motivating his patients to help take their health into their own hands.

He is very active in his community spending much of his time coaching his children and their friends in various sports. When he is not taking care of his patients or coaching his kids, you will find Dr. Wilkins hiking, camping, or fishing in Northern Michigan.
